I love Spring time. The colors and smells of new life growing out of the ground really lifts my spirit. The beginning of Spring means that Easter is near. I love to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by decorating eggs and cookies with pretty pastel colors.

There are many things that we do to celebrate Easter so I thought I’d share my Easter message this year with a movie made of the life of Christ. The song is Adagio for Strings, which is a very powerful song. It’s a little quiet on some parts, so you’ll want to turn up your speakers pretty loud to be able to feel the power of this beautiful song. Be sure to let the movie load completely before you start playing it, that way there are no pauses during the movie.

Feel free to share a link to this movie to anyone you’d like. I also have DVD copies if you’d like to order one for $5.

Thanks for watching and enjoy!

This Christmas I was able to make a movie as a Christmas gift for my husband. He was very surprised when he opened it and he loved watching it.

The movie was made to 3 songs;

1. ‘Savage Garden – I Knew I Loved You’
2. ‘Savage Garden – Truly Madly Deeply’
3. ‘Uncle Kracker – Smile’.

The movie only used the first little bit of the first 2 songs (since those 2 songs in their entirety would have been cruel). The entire song ‘Smile’ was used and it’s lots of fun to watch, since that part of the movie is my husband making funny faces throughout the many years we have been married.

I have this movie ready to share, but if you’d like to see it you’ll have to send me a message with the title “Christmas Movie” and I will send you a link to view it.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I’ve seen a lot of ‘slide shows’ that were made by other people and it seems that there are so many transitions in their movies, that it becomes annoying and distracting. For me, the music chosen sets the tone of the movie and the transitions need to go along with the movie and music. You might notice in all of my movies that I use transitions sparingly. I want the focus of the movies to be on the pictures not transitions and text. Some text and transitions is ok, but too much will be distracting and annoying.

If the movie is timed to the song correctly, transitions are not always necessary. Here’s an example of a movie that uses the principle of “tasteful transitions”. You will notice that during some parts there are transitions and other parts it just goes from picture to picture. This only works when the pictures are timed perfectly to the song. Even a split second off would affect the outcome of the movie. Check out the movie and tell me what you think.

I live in Utah and it seems that everywhere I look, there’s a wedding happening. There’s something sweet and special about seeing two people starting a new life together. I love to capturing those early days when things were more simple and put them into a movie.

The example movie here is one I created for my husband on one of our anniversaries (can’t remember which one). It’s a very simple movie, but it’s still nice to watch it and reminisce.

Enjoy!

In my opinion, there are 2 types of pictures, ‘Canned pictures’ and ‘Candid pictures’. The canned pictures are the ones you print and put on your wall for everyone to see. These are the pictures with the perfect hair, the perfect smile, the perfect everything. The candid pictures are the ones that tell a story. These are the ones that you normally forget about and only look at once in a while. If you take all of these pictures and put them together, the story will come to life each time you view it. That’s what I try to capture with each movie.

Here’s an example of a movie I made in which the only pictures we used were ones that we normally would have deleted or just ignored. You’ll notice that each picture is a funny face, sad face or just not smiling.

Click here to watch the example movie Enjoy!

What I make is not your typical “slide show”, in my opinion slide shows are boring to watch. The movies that I make can be a new form of online/personal scrap booking. Every member of my family has been entertained by these movies, and will continue to be for generations.

question: What’s the difference between a Slide show and a Movie?
answer: A slide show is just pictures flipping through as music plays (the song usually has nothing to do with the pictures being shown). A movie is something that uses the pictures and videos, along with a great song, to tell a story.

When you listen to a song, you should be listening to the words. After watching a movie that I make, each time you hear the song that was used in the movie, you will be imagining which picture or video was on that part of the song. That’s what makes the difference.

Family Project

Some time ago, I made a movie for each of my siblings for a Christmas present(mind you, I have 8 siblings, 9 kids in total). On the DVD for my family, there were a total of 10 movies: 1 of my parents and 1 for each sibling.

Parent Movie: The movie of my parents was the story of their lives before and after they met, getting married and then having kids. This movie is not something I will be sharing online, but if you are interested in seeing it, feel free to contact me and I share it with you. Their movie was made to the songs: ‘I’m a Believer’ by the Monkees and ‘Hello Mary Lou’ by Ricky Nelson.

Sibling Movies: The sibling movies all started with each of my siblings as a baby and went until they graduated from high school. Every picture used in these movies were scanned in (no digital cameras back then). Each movie was made to a song that fit their personality and they all turned out great.

Example video
The example movie you will see in this post is a movie that starts out with me as a baby and ends when I graduate from high school. This movie was made to a song that my sister and I sang when we were teenagers. The song was on a tape had to be captured digitally, so you will hear some airy sound (the nature of tapes).

Take a look and let me know what you think.

Do you or someone you know have a baptism coming up? If so, here’s a great idea for that special day.

I have created many baptism movies now and each one has been so much fun. A baptism movie can be to any song, but if it will be actually played at the baptism…it should be to a church song. These movies were played in between the baptism and confirmation, when everyone was waiting for the children to get dressed. I have a few examples of both types of baptism movies. Feel free to contact me if you want to see some more examples.

In this post you will see an example of a movie I made for 3 children that were being baptized on the same day (this is more common than you think). The movie is made to the song ‘I Feel My Savior’s Love’ which is very beautiful and perfect for multiple kids since it just over 6 minutes long. I have also created a movie to this same song for 4 children that were being baptized on the same day.

Take a look and let me know what you think.

Sometimes when I’m listening to the radio I hear a song and I say, “I have to make a movie to this one.” The song you choose is what sets the tone for each movie. If the song is slow and reverent, the movie will be more serious. If the song is faster and upbeat, the movie will be more on the fun side. I really enjoy finding the perfect song which is timeless and has really great words.

The very first movie I made was in 2004 and it was just pictures of my kids on a trip they took to the Museum of Flight with their Daddy. My husband had taken many pictures while they were there to document the trip. While I was looking at the pictures, I felt like I was experiencing the trip with them. I then got the idea to put the pictures to music for all of us to enjoy. The movie only has pictures and lots of transitions, just keep in mind that this was the first one I had ever made.

I still remember the first time I showed the video to my girls; they thought they were famous since their faces were on TV.

Take a look at the movie and let me know what you think.
